About

Blender Quicktips is a collection of short tutorials for (you guessed it) Blender 2.5. How short? Really short. Maybe even too short.

Say what?

Bite-size Blender tutorials, basically. I’m aiming to make these babies as clear, concise, and focused as possible. Sure, that means leaving out a lot of extra information, but hey, you’re smart — go forth and tinker.

Why?

Because I don’t want to watch a thirty-minute tutorial to find out how to do something that would only take thirty seconds or half a page to explain. And because most of the time I just need to know where the setting is and what kind of values I need to use.

Um, what’s Blender?

Glad you asked. It’s awesomeness incarnate — free, open source 3D software that rocks. It’s been used all over the place, including the open short films Elephants Dream, Big Buck Bunny, and Durian. ’Nuff said. You can download Blender from blender.org.

My Blender doesn’t look like yours.

All the tutorials on here are for Blender 2.5. (Specifically, Blender 2.56 beta as of now.)

Will you do a tutorial on [x, y, or z]?

Email me to let me know what [x, y, or z] is. Chances are, the answer’s yes.

I’m a geek. What’s this site running on?

WordPress on a Linode box. I designed the theme in Photoshop and wrote the HTML/CSS in MacVim. The nav links and page title font is Quicksand; the font used everywhere else is CartoGothic Std.

Who are you?

Ben Crowder, a writer/designer/coder/artist hybrid. I’m on Twitter (@bencrowder), and you can email me at blenderquicktips at gmail dot com.
